Thanksgiving

What are we thankful for on Thanksgiving? That the boy is still only crawling and that we stil have time to prepare for "First Steps"!

Looking for Boy Knits

I continue looking for items to knit for my boy. I've found a couple things that I really like, but for the most part I'm not finding much. I do like the Toddler Overalls by Whitney Van Nes. These are knit with EuroFlax, but I don't like the lack of elasticity in this fiber. When I knit them up, I think I'll try another fiber.

The knitting may have to wait though. I think that I have my first knitting injury. Yes injury! my right arm aches and when I move it in specific way it really hurts. I've looked it up and its official name is "Tennis Elbow" , but since I don't play tennis and I've been knitting up a storm lately I'm renaming it "Knitter's Elbow." I bought myself a brace and I'm wearing it daily, but still the pain. Even with the pain in my arm, I can't seem to resist knitting. I'm working on a sweater for my grand niece, Skylar, and I've also got a stocking in the queue for Kieran. He must have a stocking for Christmas.

Already Mid-November

How did it get to be mid-November already? The count down to the Holidays is in full swing and I feel like the slinky dog that left half of itself back in October. Ah well, enough of the belly aching. One to Thanksgiving!

Found a great recipe in the Weight Watchers pamplet for green beans. Oh how I hate green bean casserole, so we'll have none of that this year. And I'm thinking baked Sweet Potatoes. Does it sound just plain wrong to make a Thanksgiving feast that won't add an inch to your middle? I don't think so. Anyway I'm looking for more recipes that will still allow me to stay in my current pant size while still satisfying the Thankgiving feast.

Catching up from October Hiatus

Time flies when you have an infant, repeated colds, work, and Halloween. So here's a bulleted update of our month of October.

  • Dabbling in quilt making (October 5th)
  • Cutting out the witch wall hanging
  • Dawn and Jeff's 6th Wedding Anniversary (October 9th)
  • A night with Ira Glass in Anaheim
  • Kieran gets a cold
  • Dawn gets a cold
  • Jeff gets a cold
  • All three of us have a cold at the same time with varying degrees of functioning, mostly nonfunctioning
  • We all recover for the most part, but all continue to have stuffy noses (How lovely!)
  • Jeff heads to Las Vegas for Robert Cassidy's Bachelor Party. Whoo hoo! I tell Jeff, "Don't do anything I would do." (October 15th)
  • Glenn comes for a short visit (October 17th)
  • BS with the DAR...Yikes, can we say "Personality Disorder!" What a MESS!
  • And finally Halloween! and the El Segundo "Main Street Folic" (pictures coming soon.)

Unfortunately the quilt making was not finished before I caught my cold, so it still sits unfinished on the table. The witch wall hanging is also halfway finished. I do have high hopes that I'll get back to it soon, so that I can put it away for next year's Halloween celebrations. Now on to November.
